US Congressional delegation arrives in Islamabad

U.S. Embassy in Islamabad hosts a special reception for visiting delegation.

ISLAMABAD: A three-member delegation of the United States Congress arrived in Islamabad as part of an official visit to Pakistan, diplomatic sources confirmed.

The delegation includes Representatives Jack Bergman and Tom Suozzi, and will remain in the country until April 15.

The U.S. Embassy in Islamabad hosted a special reception for the visiting Congressional delegation, including Congressional Pakistan Caucus Co-Chair Rep. Tom Suozzi (D–NY), Rep. Jack Bergman (R–MI), and Rep. Jonathan Jackson (D–IL). The delegation’s visit aims to strengthen the U.S.–Pakistan relationship and build lasting bridges between our two nations.

During their stay, the US lawmakers are scheduled to hold meetings with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar. The delegation is also expected to meet with top military leadership, the sources said.

Key topics on the agenda include economic cooperation, trade, defense and military ties, as well as education-related matters.

Diplomatic sources added that the US delegation may also engage with leaders of various political parties during the visit. Moreover, the delegation is expected to visit Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) and the Line of Control (LoC).

The visit aims to strengthen bilateral relations between Pakistan and the United States.

Speaker of the National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq will host a dinner in honour of the US lawmakers on Saturday, according to the sources.

It may be mentioned here that American Pakistani Advocacy Group (APAG) President Mr. Ali Rashid is accompanying the congressmen. He is very active community leader and because of his efforts the New York State Assembly and Senate adopted two significant resolutions, proclaiming March 23, 2025, as “Pakistan-American Heritage Day” and March 19, 2025, as “Pakistani-American Business Celebration Day” in the State of New York.
