WASHINGTON: In a major crackdown, the United States has deported 200 Indian nationals back to India.
Among those deported is the notorious gangster Anmol Bishnoi, along with two fugitives wanted in Punjab and 197 individuals residing illegally in the U.S.
According to reports from Indian media, Anmol Bishnoi is the younger brother of gang leader Lawrence Bishnoi. He is facing multiple serious criminal charges in India, including the murder of former Indian minister Baba Siddique and involvement in the shooting at Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence.
Anmol Bishnoi fled India in April 2022 using a forged passport and traveled between the U.S. and Canada on the basis of fake documents.
U.S. authorities apprehended Anmol Bishnoi last year in California and placed him under electronic ankle monitoring. Recently, he was deported from Louisiana.
Following his deportation, the family of Baba Siddique filed a legal petition with U.S. authorities and has now urged Indian authorities to ensure his immediate arrest upon arrival in Delhi.
