WASHINGTON: The United States has issued a new security alert for Pakistan following a deadly suicide bombing in the federal capital, Islamabad.

The advisory was released by the US Department of State in the aftermath of the attack, urging American citizens traveling or residing in Pakistan to exercise heightened caution.

According to the security advisory, American citizens are advised to avoid public gatherings and review their personal security plans. The State Department also recommended that Americans closely monitor local media for the latest updates on the security situation.

The alert comes after a suicide bombing struck the Tarlai Kalan area on the outskirts of Islamabad during Friday prayers two days ago. The attack resulted in the deaths of at least 33 people, while more than 150 others were injured, according to local authorities.

US officials have not reported any American casualties in the incident but emphasized that the security environment in parts of Pakistan remains volatile. The advisory reiterates concerns over militant violence, particularly in major cities and during large public or religious events.

Pakistani authorities have launched an investigation into the attack and increased security measures in the capital and surrounding areas.

The US State Department periodically updates its travel advisories based on the prevailing security situation and has encouraged its citizens to remain vigilant while in Pakistan.
