ISLAMABAD: Uzbekistan’s President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has arrived in Pakistan for a two-day official visit.
Upon his arrival at Nur Khan Airbase, he was warmly welcomed by Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. The welcome ceremony included a 21-gun salute, and children dressed in traditional cultural attire presented bouquets to the visiting dignitary.
Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar, and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister, Haroon Akhtar Khan, were also present at the occasion. President Mirziyoyev was accompanied by a high-level delegation.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, President Mirziyoyev is scheduled to meet with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and President Asif Ali Zardari. Talks between the two leaders will focus on strengthening bilateral ties, with a particular emphasis on trade, energy, and defense cooperation.
The discussions will also cover education, public diplomacy, and enhancing regional connectivity.
The visit is a significant milestone in the growing bilateral relationship between Pakistan and Uzbekistan. It marks the second time President Mirziyoyev has visited Pakistan, underscoring the deepening ties between the two nations. Both sides are expected to agree on enhancing strategic and economic cooperation in various sectors.
The visit also includes the Uzbekistan-Pakistan Business Forum, where President Mirziyoyev will address business leaders, promoting opportunities for trade and investment between the two countries.
