LAHORE: Former prime minister and supreme leader of PML-N Nawaz Sharif on Friday said that he wants accountability of those who ran a vilification campaign against him and presented him as thief.
Those who played the card of calling others thief turned out to be a thief himself, so we want the facts come out and the public know it.
Addressing a meeting of the parliamentary board of the PML-N, he tried to dispell the impression in the public that he had returned from self-exile in England after reaching an understanding with the establishment.
Nawaz Sharif said that his priority was not winning the forthcoming general elections and form a government but accountability of those who looted national resources and declared others as culprits.
He said a person was brought to power who knew nothing about politics, economy or foreign policy.
“He only talked about ‘Riyasat-i-Madina’ but didn’t know anything about ‘Riyasat-i-Madina’ in the true sense,” he said.
Nawaz Sharif also referred to the 190 million pound Al-Qadir Trust corruption case and termed it the biggest corruption scam in the country.
The Al-Qadir Trust corruption case has been registered against ousted prime minister Imran Khan and others.
About his own cases, Nawaz Sharif said these were politically motivated to keep him out of power. After seven years, he added, he was now getting justice and being acquitted by courts.
