LONDON: A new history was created in Britain with the arrangement of an Iftar party at Windsor Castle, the royal residence of King Charles, to which around 350 people were invited.

According to the British Broadcasting Corporation, for the first time in the 1,000-year history of Windsor Castle, an iftar was held for the Muslims and Azaan given in the castle.

The Iftar was held at St George’s Hall, which is reserved for heads of state and royal banquets, and was attended by more than 350 members of the Muslim and local communities.

At the time of Iftar, dates were offered to the people to break their fasting and special prayers were offered, after which food was also served.

The purpose of Iftar was to educate non-Muslims about Islam and Ramadan.

Organizers said that King Charles is a champion of efforts to promote interfaith harmony.

Earlier on Tuesday, the House of Commons also hosted an Iftar dinner, which was also attended by the British Prime Minister for the first time in history.

On this occasion, the importance of Ramadan was highlighted after the recitation from the holy Quran.
