Women should join workforce after graduation, says president
State is responsible for creating job opportunities and ensure protection of women at workforce.
ISLAMABAD: There is a need to create opportunities for women so that they can serve the nation in all fields of life.
This was stated by President Dr. Arif Alvi while speaking as chief guest at the annual convocation of Foundation University in Islamabad on Tuesday
The president said almost half of the population of Pakistan comprised women but their share in the workforce was still less than men. He said more women should join the workforce after completing their education.
But it is the responsibility of the state to create job opportunities and provide the women protection against harassment at the workplace.
The president said that about twenty million children are out of school and every segment of society should come forward to address this issue.
President Alvi said Pakistan requires women graduates in all disciplines, including medicine and engineering.
He however stressed the importance of creating opportunities for them within the country to prevent brain drain.
A large number of students, their parents and faculty members of the university were present on the occasion.
The president later distributed degrees and shields among the graduating students and cingratulated them.
