Indian Green Card applicants face a mixed picture in the September 2025 US Visa Bulletin.
Employment-based visas like EB-2 and EB-3 may be frozen soon, while family sponsorships under the F2A category remain open for spouses and unmarried children under 21.
The F2A filing date has moved to June 1, 2025, letting applicants submit forms immediately. Final approvals depend on visa availability.
The US State Department warns that EB categories may retrogress before September ends, especially for high-demand countries such as India, China, Mexico, and the Philippines. Employment-based applicants may have to wait for the October 2025 bulletin.
For fiscal year 2025, 2,26,000 family-based and 1,50,037 employment-based Green Cards are available. Each country is capped at around 7% of the total. High demand has created long waits for Indian applicants.
Diversity Visa 2025 selectees must complete their process by September 30 to stay eligible. New allocations start October 1.
