World Bank Approves $700 Million Financing for Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The World Bank has approved $700 million in financing for Pakistan under the “Public Resources for Inclusive Development Program.”

The initiative aims to promote macroeconomic stability and improve public services in the country.

According to the World Bank, a total of $1.35 billion will be allocated for the program. This includes $600 million for the federal government and $100 million for Sindh, with the release of funds contingent on meeting specific reform targets.

The program focuses on enhancing the tax system and ensuring transparent fiscal management. It also aims to improve service delivery by upgrading digital data and financial systems.

The program aligns with Pakistan’s commitments under the IMF Extended Fund Facility. Key reforms are expected to increase resources for health and education in Sindh, and boost transparency and public trust through improved governance.

The World Bank said achieving the program’s goals will significantly contribute to Pakistan’s long-term economic stability and development.
