ISLAMABAD: The newly constituted Governing Body of the Workers Welfare Fund (WWF) has pledged to revamp investment strategies and accelerate the implementation of key welfare initiativesparticularly in education, housing, and other essential services for the betterment of the workers’ community.
This renewed commitment came during an introductory meeting held in Islamabad, chaired by Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Chaudhry Salik Hussain.
Addressing the members, the Federal Minister emphasized the government’s firm resolve to provide maximum facilities to workers and their families, ensuring transparency and adherence to international standards in all WWF-funded projects.
“All financial resources of the Fund are being utilized solely for the welfare of workers,” said Chaudhry Salik Hussain. “Our aim is to launch model projects that not only serve today’s workforce but also set a benchmark for future generations.”
The new Governing Body members expressed their determination to leave no stone unturned in delivering practical, on-ground facilities to workers across Pakistan. They reiterated their dedication to enhancing the efficiency, impact, and transparency of WWF programs.
During the meeting, WWF Secretary Zulfiqar Ahmed presented proposals for the formation of new committees to streamline operations, all of which were unanimously approved.
Chairman of the Governing Body, Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, provided a comprehensive briefing on the Fund’s policy framework, its responsibilities under the Workers Welfare Fund Ordinance of 1971, and its alignment with both national priorities and international labor standards. Members were also briefed on the status and progress of ongoing development projects.
The meeting marked a significant step toward revitalizing WWF’s role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of Pakistan’s labor force.
