ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari met Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE, and Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum during which both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to further strengthen relations between Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to a statement issued by the President’s Office, President Zardari and Sheikh Mohammed discussed ways to enhance bilateral relations between the two countries. The meeting focused particularly on promoting cooperation in economic, trade, and investment sectors.
President Zardari congratulated Sheikh Mohammed on his two-decade leadership of Dubai and praised the city’s extraordinary development as a global hub for tourism, finance, and emerging technologies.
Both leaders exchanged views on leveraging Dubai’s development experiences and explored cooperation opportunities in ports, logistics, information technology, and digital financial services.
President Zardari highlighted ongoing economic reforms in Pakistan, particularly in investment facilitation and privatization, and invited Sheikh Mohammed to visit Pakistan.
The meeting emphasized the importance of high-level exchanges and expressed satisfaction with the positive direction of Pakistan-UAE relations. President Zardari also appreciated the recent visit of Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and the UAE’s consistent support for Pakistan’s economic growth.
Additionally, the President recognized the significant role of the Pakistani community in the UAE in strengthening people-to-people ties between the two countries.
The meeting was attended by First Lady Asifa Bhutto Zardari, PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Naqvi, and Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE.
