KHUZDAR: A female police constable was martyred during an exchange of fire with terrorists in Balochistan’s Khuzdar district, becoming the first woman in the province’s history to lay down her life while fighting militants.
According to police officials, the incident occurred in the Baghbana area, where a police team had reached after receiving information about a theft. Upon arrival, the team was ambushed by armed militants who had been lying in wait and ordered the officers to surrender.
Refusing to lay down their arms, the police personnel engaged the attackers in a gun battle. During the exchange of fire, Lady Constable Malik Naz and Head Constable Samiullah were martyred on the spot, while two other officers sustained serious injuries and were shifted to a hospital.
Provincial officials paid tribute to the fallen constable, describing her sacrifice as a symbol of bravery and dedication to public safety. It was noted that Malik Naz came from a family with a history of sacrifice, as her husband, who served in the Levies Force, was also martyred in a targeted attack during duty.
She is survived by three young children. Authorities said an investigation into the incident is underway, and those responsible will be brought to justice.
They reiterated that operations against militant elements would continue until lasting peace is restored.
