KARACHI: Due to the ongoing tensions in the Middle East, 80 flights from Pakistan to various Middle Eastern destinations were cancelled again today, affecting operations at several major international airports.
According to aviation sources, Karachi Airport cancelled 26 flights to destinations including Doha, Kuwait, and Bahrain.
Islamabad International Airport cancelled 18 flights to Doha, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Muscat.
Lahore Airport cancelled 18 two-way flights to Kuwait, Doha, Bahrain, and Abu Dhabi.
Peshawar Airport cancelled 14 two-way flights to Doha, Dubai, and Abu Dhabi.
Multan Airport reported 4 cancelled flights to Middle Eastern destinations.
However, international flight operations from Sialkot and Faisalabad airports remained normal.
Officials said that a total of 1,590 flights from Pakistan to the Middle East have been cancelled over the past 16 days due to the unstable regional situation.
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) announced that the NOTAM (Notice to Airmen) regarding a two-hour suspension of flight operations at Islamabad Airport has been withdrawn.
According to the CAA spokesperson, flight operations on Monday (March 16) from 8:30 AM to 10:30 AM will continue as normal at Islamabad Airport.
All six sectors of the Lahore Flight Information Region (FIR) will remain open, and the airspace will be available for commercial flights.
Authorities confirmed that landing and takeoff operations at Islamabad Airport will proceed normally during this period.
