PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakthunkhwa police in a report has stated that 860 people were killed or injured in terrorist incidents across 15 districts of the province during the first six months of this year.
According to the report, Bannu recorded the highest number of casualties with 181 killed or injured, followed by North Waziristan with 155. According to the report, 63 police personnel were killed and 84 injured in various attacks.
Civilian casualties included 101 killed and 292 injured, with the highest numbers of civilian deaths reported in Bannu (22), Mardan (16), South Waziristan (15), and North Waziristan (11).
The Frontier Constabulary also suffered significant losses with 46 personnel killed and 82 injured, including 15 deaths in Kurram and 9 in North Waziristan. Additionally, 11 khasadars were killed and 18 injured in these attacks. District-wise police fatalities included 21 in Bannu, 11 in Dera Ismail Khan, 7 in Kohat, 6 in Peshawar, 4 in South Waziristan, 3 in Kurram, and 2 in Khyber, where 3 others were injured.
The report further states that out of 756 registered terrorism cases in the province, the Counter Terrorism Department is investigating 561.
