ISLAMABAD: A report released in Islamabad has highlighted a significant human toll of the long-running brutalities by Indian occupation forces in Jammu and Kashmir.

The report issued by the Research Section of Kashmir Media Service stated that 933 children were among 96,497 people killed in Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir from January 1989 to date.

The report added that due to the ongoing conflict, around 108,007 children have been orphaned in the territory during the same period.

It also said thousands of civilians, including school-age boys and girls, have been injured by pellets, bullets, and tear gas shells reportedly used by Indian troops, paramilitary forces, and police.

According to the report, several individuals have suffered serious eye injuries, including partial or complete blindness, due to pellet and shelling incidents after 2010.

It also said hundreds of minors have been killed in search operations and alleged encounters, while many others remain in detention in various jails in India and the region.

Separately, statements attributed to All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) spokesman Advocate Abdul Rashid Minhas and APHC-AJK leaders said that the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression serves as a reminder of the alleged suffering of children in the region.

They called upon the United Nations, Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), European Union, and international human rights organizations to intervene, protect civilians, and support a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir dispute in line with UN resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people.

The statements alleged that children in the region are being subjected to arrests and mistreatment, and urged the global community not to ignore the humanitarian situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
