Republican Mike Pence out of US presidential race

Former vice president says, "thus is not my time."

WASHINGTON: Former vice president Republican Mike Pence is out of the forthcoming US election race, it emerged on Saturday.

Pence on Saturday said that he was withdrawing from the bid to run for the post, adding, “this is not my time.”

Pence announced his decision while speaking at the annual meeting of the Republican Jewish Coalition in Las Vegas

“After much prayer and consideration, I have decided to suspend my campaign for president in the election 2024.”

Mike Pence, along with most of his rivals seeking to be the Republican Party’s nominee for next year’s White House race, never gained momentum in a contest overwhelmingly dominated by former president Donald Trump.
