CHITRAL: The Garam Chashma valley of Lower Chitral with a population of over 50,000 is cut off as the only road to the area is blocked for over a week.
Today, relatives of a man were forced to carry his dead body from Chitral town to his village in Lotkoh on their shoulders after he died in the District Headquarters Hospital.
Moreover, the area is running out of essential food and other supplies and there is the likelihood of a food crisis in the area. On the other hand, the NHA is not working expeditiously to remove snow and reopen the road.
Meanwhile, former provincial minister and PPP leader Salim Khan said that the people of Garam Chashma were facing a crisis like situation.
He warned that if the road was not opened within two days, the stranded people of Garam Chashma will launch a protest drive.
Major roads connecting to different sub-valleys in Lower and Upper Chitral are also blocked while the main road from Chitral to other parts of the country was opened on Wednesday.
