ISLAMABAD: Preparations have been made to send home three and a half thousand employees of the national airline. The voluntary retirement scheme will reduce the burden of additional manpower on the company and save billions of rupees.
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) plans to send three and a half thousand employees home. PIA has demanded more than Rs 12.87 billion from the government under the voluntary separation scheme which will be approved by the Economic Co-ordination Committee.
The retiring employees of the national airline will be paid their dues in two and a half years. The elimination of additional manpower will save Pakistan International Airlines more than Rs4.2 billion annually.
According to a document received by News Diplomacy, it is planned to limit the number of employees to 7,500 for 30 PIA ships in the future, with only one and a half hundred employees per ship.
