RAWALPINDI: An accountability Court in Rawalpindi had set January 6th as the day for the announcement of its verdict in the 190 million pound reference against PTI founder and former prime minister Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi.
However, according to media reports, the announcement of the verdict is unlikely to be announced on January 6th.
Accountability Court Judge Nasir Javed Rana had completed hearing of the case in one year and reserved the verdict on December 18, 2024. The judge had first stated that the judgement would be announced on December 23. However, later he told lawyers of both the sides that it would be announced on January 6th.
According to the media reports, the court was unlikely to announce the verdict on January 6th snd would inform the lawyers about it on January 6th.
The National Accountability Bureau showed Imran Khan arrested on November 13, 2023 in the corruption reference.
Imran Khan has been charged with entering into a secret deal with property tycoon Malik Riaz before the transfer of the money to Pakistan after recovering him in the UK.
The money was to be transferred to the government kitty but under the deal it was handed over to Malik Riaz and in return 458 kanals of land was secured from him for Al-Qadir University which had no existence till the year 2019.
