PTI wants release of its prisoners through executive order: minister

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Law and Justice Senator Azam Nazir Tarar has said that the PTI has put a demand in front of the government to get its prisoners released from jail through an executive order.

He made this claim while speaking during a session of the Senate of Pakistan today. The minister added that though the PTI wants the government release its prisoners through the executive order, there was no provision for such a step in the constitution of Pakistan. He said anyone arrested in any case could be released through the legal process.

Referring to the corruption of the PTI during the government of Imran Khan, the law minister said that a deal was accepted and approved by the federal cabinet in a closed envelope without knowing its content. The money recovered by the British government and returned to Pakistan was transferred to the bank account of a property tycoon, he added.

He said that it was regretsble that the PTI always tried to ridicule the economic development made by the government of the PML-N and even tried to derail the progress by holding protests.
