BEIJING: After the United States imposed tariffs, China retaliated by imposing a 10-15% tariff on imports from the United States.
After the United States recently imposed tariffs on Chinese imports, China today announced tariffs on oil, gas and other products imported from the United States.
China’s finance ministry said in a statement that a 15% levy would be imposed on coal and gas products imported from the United States, while a 10% tax would be imposed on crude oil and auto products from the United States.
The Chinese Ministry of Finance said that the implementation of tariffs on American products will begin on February 10.
It may be recalled that the Trump administration had recently announced to impose tariffs on goods from China, Canada and Mexico, in response to which Canada and Mexico also announced to impose tariffs on American products.
President Trump later delayed the decision to impose tariffs on Canada and Mexico for a month, after which Canada and Mexico also withdrew their decisions.
