ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Mohammad Aurangzeb Khan has hinted at reducing the tax burden on the salaried class in the next fiscal year’s budget.
Speaking to the media in Lahore, Khan said: “Thank God, economic stability has been achieved in the country, stocks are going up, there is stability in the currency and the policy rate has also come down. Now we have to move towards sustainable development.”
The Minister said he have already started meeting businessmen before the budget, adding the government was also working on reforms in FBR. There is a burden of taxes on the salaried class, we will think of reducing the burden on the salaried class in the upcoming budget, he added.
The minister said that for the first time in the history of Pakistan, the tax system had improved. Tax collections from real estate have also improved, he said, adding that betting will not be allowed in the real estate sector. Moreover, the government is also working to support the construction industry.
Khan said he had recently held meetings with overseas Pakistanis in Saudi Arabia, Dubai and Washington and found no resentment among the expatriates.
