WASHINGTON: In the United States of America, the crackdown on pro-Palestinian foreign students at universities has been intensified.
U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio has confirmed that the visa of Tufts University’s Turkish student Romesha Öztürk, who was arrested outside her home in Massachusetts yesterday, had been revoked.
According to media reports, visas of at least 300 foreign students have been revoked so far.
“Maybe more than 300 at this point,” the secretary of state was quoted as saying while speaking to reporters on a visit to Guyana. “We do it every day, every time I find one of these lunatics.”
In addition, the Trump administration confirmed the detention and visa revocation of an Iranian student at the University of Alabama.
