Japan urged to help build quake-resilient buildings
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and Japan have discussed to increase cooperation in building earthquake-resilient infrastructure, Radio Pakistan reported.
The discussion was held between Federal Secretary Ministry of Housing and Works Iftikhar Ali Shallwani and Chief Representative Japan International Cooperation Agency Pakistan Office Yasumitsu Kinoshita in Islamabad.
The housing decretary sought Japanese assistance as Japan had extensive experience in constructing building codes capable of withstanding the force of natural disasters.
Yasumitsu Kinoshita, praised Pakistani government’s efforts towards providing affordable housing to its citizens.
Both sides also discussed the importance of sustainability in housing projects and identified potential areas for future collaboration.
