ISLAMABAD: The Asian Development Bank (ADB) and the National Highway Authority (NHA) have signed an important agreement for the construction of the Hyderabad–Sukkur Motorway (M-6), officials said.
According to details, the motorway will be constructed in two sections under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The agreement was signed by ADB Country Director Emma Fan and NHA Member Ejaz Ahmed.
Under the arrangement, the ADB will provide advisory support for the project, including feasibility studies, structuring of the PPP framework, and assistance in ensuring a transparent procurement process.
The planned 120-kilometre six-lane motorway is expected to fill a critical gap in the north-south high-speed road network. Authorities say the project will reduce travel time, improve logistics efficiency, and strengthen trade and business connectivity across the country.
The motorway is also expected to contribute to broader economic activity, with officials noting that it represents a significant step towards completing the Peshawar–Karachi corridor network.
