MUZAFFARABAD: The government of Azad Kashmir has officially declared the Joint Public Action Committee a banned organization, issuing a formal notification under the Anti Terrorism Act 2014.
According to the Home Department, the organization has been placed in the First Schedule of proscribed groups, including all its alternative names. The decision was approved by the President of Azad Kashmir after authorities concluded that there was sufficient evidence linking the group to activities harmful to public peace and security.
The notification states that the organization was involved in creating unrest, spreading fear among the public, and promoting hatred within society. It further alleges that the group played a role in disturbing law and order and weakening the sense of safety among citizens.
Under Section 12 of the Anti Terrorism Act 2014, strict legal action will now be taken against the banned organization. Authorities have circulated the notification to all relevant government offices, including ministers, law enforcement agencies, and administrative officials across Muzaffarabad, Poonch, and Mirpur divisions.
Deputy commissioners, police officials, and intelligence units have also been directed to ensure implementation of the ban.
The government emphasized that maintaining law and order, public safety, and state stability remains a top priority, and no group will be allowed to threaten peace or disrupt the system.
