AJK president urges OIC to help resolve Kashmir issue

Says longstanding issue in the agenda of the UN a serious threat to world peace.

ISLAMABAD: The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) has been urged to take steps for the resolution of the longstanding Kashmir issue in order to ensure peace in the region and check human rights violations at the hands of the Indian occupying forces.

Addressing via video long the Kashmir contact group meeting of the OIC from Islamabad, Azad Jammu and Kashmir President Barrister Sultan Mahmood Chaudhry said OIC should use its political and diplomatic clout to help resolve the issue in line with aspirations of the Kashmiris.

He was of the view that the longstanding issue of the world in the agenda of the UN was a serious threat to peace.

He appreciated OIC’s support to Kashmiris’ right to self-determination, adding the member states must play their due role to stop the bloodbath of innocent civilians in IIOJK.

He said India was trying to change the demography of occupied Kashmir and referred to issuance of domicile certificates to non-Kashmiris as a step in that illegal intention of New Delhi.
