Alvi condemns state-sponsored killing of Sikh leader by India

Says India is habitual of persecuting and eliminating leadership of minority groups in and outside the the country.

ISLAMABAD: After the Canadian prime minister accused India of orchestrating the murder of a Khalistan leader, who was a dual Canadian citizen, eyebrows have been raised about Indian complicity in extra-territorial killings and terrorism.

At the same time, major powers including the US have expressed concerns and called for a thorough investigation into the case.

Pakistan officially said the allegation of Indian involvement in such crimes was nit new to it as New Delhi has for long been involved in extrajudicial killings of Kashmiris and terrorism inside Pakistan.

On Thursday, President Dr Arif Alvi strongly condemned the involvement of India in the murder of Canadian Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar and urged the world to take serious note of the state-sponsored killing on the Canadian soil.

The president said it had been the policy of India to persecute and eliminate the leadership of minority groups in India and outside world.

He said the brutal murder of the Sikh leader exposed the real face of India that has been intolerant towards the minority groups.

India has unleashed a reign of terror against the Muslims in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJ&K) and other minority communities for decades.

He regretted that the silence and the inaction of the world over the atrocities being committed by India in the IIOJ&K and the persecution of minorities and demolishment of their places of worship emboldened India to carry out such operations on foreign soil.
