ISLAMABAD: Pakistan launched Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq and the operation aimed at securing Pakistan’s western border and neutralizing terror elements has seen swift and decisive.
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), detailed the operation’s scope and achievements during a press briefing. He said the Taliban regime and the various extremist factions operating in Afghanistan represent a singular threat to regional security, stating, “There is no difference between the Afghan Taliban regime and terrorist groups. Both pose significant risks to Pakistan’s sovereignty and public safety.”
The operation took a significant turn on the night of February 26-27, when Pakistani forces carried out targeted strikes against extremist hideouts, particularly focusing on the Fitna al-Khawarij, a violent faction operating near the border. In retaliation, the Afghan Taliban regime launched a counterattack, firing on 53 locations across 15 border sectors.
However, Pakistani troops quickly repelled these assaults, pushing back Taliban forces and maintaining control over crucial border areas.
According to General Chaudhry, the operation has already proven successful in dismantling key Taliban infrastructure. “We have neutralized 274 Taliban fighters and wounded over 400 others,” he reported. “Additionally, 74 Taliban posts were destroyed and 18 enemy checkpoints have now been seized by Pakistan’s forces.”
Pakistan’s aerial capabilities have also played a critical role in the operation. The Pakistan Air Force targeted high-value Taliban locations, including military headquarters in Kabul and Kandahar. General Chaudhry explained that the strikes were carried out with pinpoint accuracy, ensuring that only military targets were hit while minimizing civilian casualties.
Among the significant achievements was the destruction of Taliban weapons depots and the neutralization of 115 Taliban tanks and armored vehicles.
Despite the successes, the operation has come at a cost. Pakistan reported the martyrdom of 12 soldiers and the injury of 27 others during the ongoing offensive. However, the overall message from the military leadership is clear: “Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq will continue until its objectives are fully achieved.”
The operation’s impact has been felt not just on the battlefield but in the broader geopolitical landscape. With tensions high in the region, the international community is closely monitoring the developments. Pakistan’s swift and effective military response has been hailed as a crucial step in restoring peace and security, not just for Pakistan, but for the region at large.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed full support for the operation, stating that it is critical to the safety of Pakistan’s citizens and the stability of the region.
“This operation is not just about protecting our borders; it is about safeguarding the future of our nation and ensuring peace in our neighboring regions,” he said.
As the operation continues, Pakistan’s military has made it clear that the fight against terrorism and extremism will not end until these threats are fully eradicated. The nation’s resolve remains firm, and the international community watches closely as the situation unfolds.
