TEHRAN: Chief of Defence Forces Asim Munir held a key meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi in Tehran, where both sides discussed ongoing Iran-US negotiations and broader regional security concerns.
According to reports, the meeting focused on efforts to reduce tensions in the region, promote peace and stability, and support diplomatic initiatives related to West Asia. The engagement comes as Pakistan continues to play an active role in facilitating dialogue between Iran and the United States.
Field Marshal Asim Munir arrived in Iran a day earlier and was warmly received by Iranian Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is already in Tehran, where he has been holding meetings with key Iranian officials to advance diplomatic efforts.
Sources indicate that the discussions also covered prospects for a potential Iran-US agreement, with Pakistan’s mediation seen as a significant element in ongoing backchannel communications. Further high-level meetings between Pakistani and Iranian leadership are expected during the visit.
