NEW YORK: Consul General of Pakistan in New York Aamer Ahmed Atozai held key meetings with a visiting Pakistani academic delegation and a senior official of the State Bank of Pakistan.
The meetings focused on academic collaboration and strengthening financial linkages with the diaspora.
During his meeting with the Pakistani academic delegation participating in international moot court activities in the United States, the Consul General lauded their efforts in representing Pakistan at a prestigious competition hosted by Stetson University.
The delegation shared their experiences and highlighted the importance of such global platforms in enhancing Pakistan’s visibility in international legal forums and fostering academic partnerships.
Mr. Atozai congratulated the delegation on their achievements and reaffirmed the Consulate’s continued support for initiatives that promote academic engagement and collaboration with leading institutions in the United States.
Focus on Remittances
In a separate engagement, the Consul General met with Akhtar Javed, Executive Director of the State Bank of Pakistan, to discuss strategies for promoting remittances from the Pakistani diaspora in the United States.
Both sides exchanged views on ongoing initiatives by the Government of Pakistan and the central bank to facilitate remittance flows and improve financial connectivity.
They emphasized the role of the Roshan Digital Account in offering convenient banking and investment solutions for overseas Pakistanis.
The Consul General reiterated his support for outreach efforts aimed at strengthening engagement with the diaspora and encouraging the use of formal remittance channels.
