RAWALPINDI: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif inaugurated the “Ma’araka-e-Haq” signal-free square in Rawalpindi, completing the initiative in a record 179 days ahead of the scheduled 190 days.

The project is being hailed as Pakistan’s first unique and fast-paced urban infrastructure development.

At a ceremony, the chief minister unveiled a commemorative plaque renaming the stretch from Rawalpindi Court Chowk to Rehki Din Road as “Ma’araka-e-Haq Square” and offered prayers for the nation’s progress and prosperity.

She also toured various sections of the project, including overhead bridges, underpasses and connecting roads, and reviewed the Annexi Chowk to GPO Chowk signal-free corridor.

Punjab Minister for Communications and Works Saheb Ahmed Bharth provided a detailed briefing, explaining that the corridor, located in one of Rawalpindi’s busiest areas, will allow over 200,000 vehicles to pass daily without interruption, significantly improving traffic flow.
