China and Russia Express Concerned Over Terrorism From Afghan Soil

BEIJING: China and Russia have expressed serious concern over terrorism originating from Afghan soil, calling it a major threat to regional and global security.

The concerns were highlighted in a joint statement issued after a meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

According to the statement, terrorism and extremism emerging from Afghanistan pose a serious threat to neighboring countries and international peace. The two leaders emphasized the urgent need for the establishment of lasting peace, political stability, and an effective security structure in Afghanistan.

They further called on the international community to strengthen cooperation to ensure that Afghan territory is not used against neighboring states.

The statement also stressed that instability in Afghanistan continues to have wider implications for regional security.

The joint declaration is being seen as a reflection of a growing international concern over security challenges in the region.
