SRINAGAR: In Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir, normal life was badly affected due to complete shutdown on the 9th martyrdom anniversary of Kashmiri leader, Muhammad Afzal Guru, today (Wednesday).
The call for the shutdown was given by the illegally detained All Parties Hurriyat Conference Chairman, Masarrat Aalam Butt, Mirwaiz Umar Farooq and Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front.
All shops and business establishments were closed while vehicular movement remained thin. Shopkeepers in Srinagar, Islamabad and other areas refused to open shops despite being threatened with dire consequences by the occupation authorities.
Meanwhile, leaders of various regional political parties continued to reject the draft proposal of the Delimitation Commission which suggests the creation of new constituencies to curtail the Muslim representation in the IIOJK assembly.
On the other hand, Editors Guild of India while condemning the harassment of journalists after the arrest of “The Kashmir Walla” editor, Fahad Shah, by the Modi regime said that the space for media freedom has eroded in Kashmir.
