LAHORE: The Anti-Corruption Court in Lahore has announced its decision to indict former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and other accused individuals on November 6 in the case concerning alleged illegal appointments in the Punjab Assembly.

Presiding Judge Javed Iqbal Warraich issued the written order following the latest hearing, directing all accused to appear in person for the framing of charges. The court also sought arguments on the acquittal petitions filed by Elahi’s co-accused.

According to the court order, the prosecution objected to Elahi’s request for a one-day exemption from appearance, noting that he had also failed to attend the previous hearing. The prosecutor further informed the court that indictment proceedings have yet to be formally initiated in the case.

The case revolves around allegations that Elahi, during his tenure as chief minister, was involved in unlawful recruitment practices within the Punjab Assembly, allegedly violating merit and procedural rules.

The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) claims that these appointments were made on political grounds and in violation of established regulations.

The court has now fixed November 6, 2025, for the formal indictment of Chaudhry Pervez Elahi and his co-accused, marking a critical phase in the long-running investigation.
