KHAIRPUR: In Khairpur district of Sindh, a woman allegedly poisoned her husband and four children before taking her own life with a gun following a domestic dispute.
According to police reports, the incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the A-Section police station. The woman reportedly served lunch laced with poison to her husband and children. Shortly after eating, all five family members fell unconscious and later died.
Police said that after realizing the deaths, the woman shot herself dead with a firearm. Neighbours immediately informed the authorities, who reached the scene and shifted the bodies to a local hospital for legal and medical formalities.
Initial investigations suggest that the woman’s husband had contracted a second marriage, which had led to frequent quarrels at home. The ongoing domestic tension is believed to have driven the woman to commit the act.
Police sources confirmed that the deceased family belonged to a well-known local business family, with the husband identified as the son of Khairpur’s prominent trader, Bashir Arain.
Before ending her life, the woman reportedly posted a recorded statement on her husband’s WhatsApp status, in which she explained that she took the extreme step due to his second marriage.
Authorities have begun a detailed investigation to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
