ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar on Wednesday underscored the importance of sustained leadership-level engagement and stronger institutional cooperation during a meeting with a delegation of senior Bangladeshi civil servants in Islamabad.
The delegation, currently visiting Pakistan under the Pakistan–Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor initiative, called on the deputy prime minister at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The officials are in the country for a three-week executive development programme at the Civil Services Academy in Lahore.
According to a statement issued by the Foreign Office, the visit—taking place after 53 years—marks a significant milestone in bilateral institutional exchanges between Pakistan and Bangladesh.
Speaking on the occasion, Ishaq Dar highlighted that the exchange reflects growing momentum in Pakistan-Bangladesh relations and stressed the need for continued engagement at the leadership level, along with enhanced people-to-people contacts.
The Knowledge Corridor initiative was launched during Dar’s visit to Dhaka in August 2025, where he announced 500 scholarships for Bangladeshi students over five years. Officials noted that 74 students from Bangladesh are already pursuing higher education in Pakistan under this programme.
The visit is being seen as a positive step towards strengthening bilateral ties and fostering closer cooperation in education, governance and institutional capacity building between the two countries.–APP
