PESHAWAR: In a successful intelligence-based operation in Bannu, security forces, including police and Counter Terrorism Department (CTD), killed eight militants following a tip-off.
According to police sources, heavy exchange of fire took place during the operation in which eight militants were neutralized, while one police officer embraced martyrdom and another was injured.
Authorities said modern surveillance tools, including drones and advanced monitoring systems, were used during the operation to track militant movement and ensure precision in action.
Police further confirmed that a 10-kilogram improvised explosive device (IED) was also recovered from the site and was safely defused, preventing a potential major tragedy.
A search operation is currently underway in the area as security forces continue to clear surroundings and collect further evidence.
