LONDON: Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s mother Begum Shamim Akhtar has passed away after a long illness.
Nawaz Sharif’s mother left for London in February despite a serious illness. Doctors forbade her to travel long distances, but ahe insisted to go to her son. Begum Shamim Akhtar, the mother of Nawaz Sharif and Shahbaz Sharif, was about 90 years old when her husband Mian Muhammad Sharif died in 2004 in Jeddah.
Nawaz Sharif’s mother Begum Shamim Akhtar will be buried in the Sharif family’s ancestral graveyard in Lahore.
Her mother’s body will be flown to Pakistan after legal framework. The body of Nawaz Sharif’s mother is likely to arrive in Pakistan from London in the next 24 hours
PML-N sources said that Nawaz Sharif and his sons are not likely to arrive in Pakistan but their funeral will be arranged in Lahore by Captain (retd) Safdar and others.
For attending the funeral of Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz On the other hand, government sources said that the decision to release Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz on parole would be taken in accordance with the law. It is likely that Shahbaz Sharif and Hamza Shahbaz will be released.
Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi passed his condolences to the deceased family. While, he prayed for high ranks of the departure soul, and asked patience for the family.
Furthermore, according to sources, the dead body of Nawaz’s mother will be shifted first to Regent Park Islamic Center, London, where funeral will be offered. After legal modulity the dead body will be shifted to Pakistan to be burried, sources said.
