Federal Government has prepared the TORs of the Broadsheet Commission

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Government has prepared TORs of Broadsheet Commission. The Commission will have the power to form special committees consisting of officers and experts to assist. The commission will also look into whether the payment made in 2008 was legitimate. And has the case been effectively fought in the London courts? The commission will investigate the 1.5 million payments to Broadsheet in 2008 and identify those responsible.

A one-member commission comprising Justice (R) Sheikh Azmat Saeed will examine the selection, appointment process and contracts of Broadsheet and IAR. The commission will also look into whether the payment made in 2008 was legitimate. And has the case been effectively fought in the London courts? The Commission will determine whether the payment to the claimant was in accordance with the legal and prescribed rules and procedures.

According to the TORs, the commission will determine why the cases filed for recovery of illegally acquired assets were closed. And how much damage the country suffered as a result. The Commission will also identify any individual or authority guilty of negligence or mismanagement. The Commission will also review the closure of cases relating to the recovery of assets created through illegal sources abroad since 1990.
