ISLAMABAD: The United States Embassy in Islamabad hosted a grand “Freedom 250” celebration to mark 250 years of American independence and highlight the enduring partnership between the United States and Pakistan.
The event was part of a year-long global series of celebrations leading up to the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Declaration of Independence. It brought together a wide range of distinguished guests from Pakistan, including government officials, business leaders, academics, civil society representatives, and cultural figures.
Their participation reflected the strength and diversity of the bilateral relationship.
In her keynote address, Chargé d’Affaires Natalie Baker emphasized the importance of the milestone, describing it as not only a celebration of American history but also a reaffirmation of shared values such as democracy, freedom, and cooperation between the two nations.
She highlighted that nearly 80 years of friendship between the people of the United States and Pakistan have been built on mutual respect and shared goals, adding that the partnership continues to look forward to a stronger and more prosperous future.
The ceremony featured a formal presentation by the U.S. Marine Corps Color Guard, performances of both national anthems, and musical entertainment by the U.S. Air Force Central Command Band and Pakistani artist Bilal Saeed. The evening concluded with a vibrant fireworks display, symbolizing both the historic milestone and the future of U.S.-Pakistan relations.
The “Freedom 250” initiative, launched by former President Donald Trump under the theme “A New Era of American Greatness,” is being celebrated by U.S. missions around the world to commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence and promote international engagement.
