First shipment of Corona vaccine reached Pakistan from China

ISLAMABAD: A Pakistan Air Force plane arrived in Islamabad from China carrying 500,000 doses of Corona vaccine Sinofarm.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi and Special Assistant on Health Dr. Faisal Sultan received the vaccine at Noor Khan Air Base. Initially, the Corona vaccine will be administered to frontline workers fighting Covid-19.

Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that China has once again paid tribute to friendship and the government is grateful to China.On this occasion, the Chinese Ambassador to Pakistan said that Pakistan is the first country to be vaccinated.

In the first phase, Corona vaccine will be given to registered front line workers from February 3. The NCOC and the Ministry of Health have made arrangements across the country in this regard.

Vaccines will be delivered by air to Sindh, Balochistan and Gilgit-Baltistan to maintain the temperature and save time. For the first phase of vaccination, 189 vaccination centers have been set up in Punjab and 14 in Sindh, while 280 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 44 in Balochistan and 14 in Islamabad. Vaccination will be carried out through 25 centers in Azad Kashmir and 16 centers in Gilgit-Baltistan.
