ISLAMABAD: The Foreign Office on Friday said it had no knowledge of reports about potential talks between Pakistan and Afghanistan taking place in Saudi Arabia.
Spokesperson Tahir Inderabi stated that the media reports had not been confirmed, and Pakistan had no official information regarding these discussions.
However, Pakistan welcomed Turkey’s offer to mediate between the two countries and said it is ready to participate in negotiations.
Inderabi clarified that Pakistan had temporarily opened its borders for humanitarian aid, while Afghanistan had also closed its borders on its side due to the current situation.
About other diplomatic activities, he said during the visit of the President of Kyrgyzstan to Pakistan both countries agreed to strengthen bilateral relations and aim to increase trade volume to $200 million by 2027–28.
During the visit, 15 Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) were signed, and the Kyrgyz President addressed a business forum attended by over 20 Kyrgyz companies and more than 80 Pakistani traders.
