CHAGHI: At least 10 employees of a private company, including a foreign national, were killed and five others injured in a deadly armed attack in the Drigung area near Dalbandin in Chaghi District, security sources said.
According to officials, the attack took place near the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, where a mining project was underway for exploration of copper and gold. Unidentified armed assailants opened fire and also set fuel storage facilities ablaze during the assault.
Hospital sources confirmed that 10 bodies have been shifted to Prince Fahd Hospital in Dalbandin, while five injured individuals are under treatment.
Among the deceased is a foreign worker reportedly from Türkiye, along with local security personnel from Dalbandin and workers from different regions of the country.
Authorities confirmed the incident and said a full-scale security operation is underway in the area. Officials added that further details will be released once the situation is fully assessed.
The attack has caused panic in the region, prompting security forces to place the area on high alert as investigations continue.
