RAWALPINDI: The military has said it had shot down four drones allegedly launched from Afghan territory into Balochistan, describing the incident as a cross-border provocation.
In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the drones crossed into Pakistani airspace on June 30 and were detected immediately by the country’s air defence system.
The military said security forces responded promptly, destroying all four drones through advanced defensive measures before they could achieve their alleged objectives.
According to the ISPR, the Afghan Taliban administration was attempting to divert attention from its domestic challenges through such actions. It urged the Afghan authorities to stop supporting terrorism and instead adhere to the principles of peaceful coexistence.
The military also warned that any future cross-border aggression or provocation against Pakistan would receive a swift and decisive response under Operation Ghazab-ul-Haq.
He added that the armed forces remain fully prepared to defend the country’s sovereignty and protect its citizens.
