Future talks with India will be based on Kashmir, water, terrorism: PM

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stated that any future dialogue with India will be based on four key issues: Kashmir, water, trade, and terrorism.

In a recent statement, the Prime Minister emphasized that war is never a permanent solution, asserting, “In any war, one side wins and the other loses. Long-lasting peace is the only guarantee for a secure future.”

He further revealed that during recent conflicts, India received significant support from Israel. “India used Israeli weapons in Srinagar and other areas during the war,” he claimed.

Discussing internal military decisions, Shehbaz Sharif noted, “It was my decision to promote General Asim Munir to the rank of Field Marshal. I consult Nawaz Sharif before making any important decision.”

The Prime Minister also said that when Pakistan and India have engaged in talks related to terrorism in the past, they were led by the national security advisers of both countries.

However, he expressed concern that India has not yet agreed to participate in discussions facilitated by a third country. “Deciding to hold talks in a third country could be a good move, but India is not ready for such an arrangement,” he added.

The remarks come amid ongoing regional tensions, with Pakistan reiterating its willingness to pursue dialogue, provided its core concerns are addressed.
