LAHORE: Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Ali Amin Gandapur has given the federal government a 90-day ultimatum, warning that either his demands will be met or he will leave politics.
Speaking in Lahore, he threatened to remove opposition-backed governor Khyber Pakhtunkhwa if his party’s members are not empowered.
He was addressing Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) workers at former deputy Senate chairman Mirza Muhammad Afridi’s farmhouse in Jati Umrah, where the PTI convoy led by Gandapur had arrived from Islamabad.
In his speech, Gandapur claimed PTI’s mandate was repeatedly stolen in previous elections, accusing the system of being rigged in 2013 and 2018. He said PTI founder Imran Khan’s goal is not just politics but reforming the country, and that Khan is ready for talks if allegations against him are proven.
Gandapur also referred to Imran Khan’s wife being in prison while Khan continues what he described as a fight for people’s rights. He criticized the authorities for cracking down on peaceful rallies and warned against testing PTI’s patience.
He said his party’s convoy caused no damage in Lahore and questioned why they were attacked. He vowed to resist any unjust actions, warning that if force is used against PTI, they will respond in kind.
