PESHAWAR: Over 48 hours after submitting his resignation, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur’s resignation has yet to be officially accepted.

Gandapur has confirmed that he sent his resignation to the Governor of KP and called for an end to political theatrics. However, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi stated that he has not received the resignation and will review it once it reaches his office.

Legal experts suggest that the governor may question whether the resignation meets procedural requirements, such as being handwritten.

Meanwhile, KP Assembly staff remain present despite a scheduled holiday, and an assembly session may be convened at 3 PM today, although no official notification has been issued.

In a related development, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has reportedly prepared a no-confidence motion against Gandapur. If the Governor does not approve the resignation, the motion could be submitted. In the 145-member KP Assembly, at least 73 votes are required for a no-confidence motion to pass.
