Islamabad: The National Highway Authority (NHA) has announced that it has successfully restored road infrastructure across northern Pakistan, including the iconic Karakoram Highway (KKH) and key routes in Gilgit-Baltistan, which were damaged due to recent heavy rainfall.

The restoration work was conducted on an emergency basis, utilizing all available resources to ensure that traffic could resume without further delay in the affected areas.

Rapid Restoration Efforts

According to an official statement released on Wednesday, the NHA acted swiftly following the damage caused by the rainfall.

The restoration process aimed at ensuring that vital routes remained open for both local traffic and tourists traveling to the scenic regions of Gilgit-Baltistan and Skardu.

This move was crucial for maintaining accessibility to one of the most popular tourist destinations in Pakistan, especially during peak tourist season.

Personal Inspection by Federal Secretary for Communications

Ali Sher Mehsud, the Federal Secretary for Communications, personally inspected the restored routes to assess the quality of the repairs.

He traveled through several key locations, including Chilas, Mansehra, Babusar Top, Khunjerab Pass, and the 144-kilometre Jaglot-Skardu Highway, which connects the Gilgit-Baltistan region to Skardu.
