PESHAWAR: The Governor House Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has formally received the resignation of Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, but Governor Faisal Karim Kundi has declined to grant immediate approval, citing the need for legal scrutiny and constitutional review before any formal action is taken.
According to official sources, Brigadier (R) Musaddiq Abbasi, Special Assistant to the Chief Minister on Anti-Corruption, personally delivered Gandapur’s resignation to the Governor House earlier today.
The resignation was handed over to the caretaker staff, who issued a formal receipt marking 2:30 PM as the time of delivery.
While addressing the media, Governor Faisal Karim Kundi confirmed that he received the handwritten resignation letter from the Chief Minister, dated October 11, 2025.
He emphasized that the document will undergo a thorough verification process and all constitutional and legal requirements will be completed before any official acceptance of the resignation is announced.
Sources further disclosed that although the Governor House has completed the initial legal formalities, Governor Kundi has apologized for not granting immediate approval. In order to ensure compliance with constitutional procedures, he has summoned the legal team for a detailed consultation on Monday.
Due to the weekly holiday on Sunday, the legal staff will not be available, which is why the decision has been deferred.
The Governor House’s legal team is expected to examine the constitutional provisions, evaluate potential legal complications, and outline the future course of action regarding the resignation.
